I went by the Studio Diner before my visit to bring Miss Rhoddie her favorite sandwich, french fries and a vanilla shake. She finished 1/4 of the sandwich about 10 fries and the all the chocolate shake. She ate very well. Every medical member that I encountered was very helpful. It made my visit extremely plesant

My stay there was very pleasant and the CNA’S Rosairo and Loretto were excellent and caring. The food rating was on the low side. Mike, Admissions Director was very helpful as well.

The team at Poway Healthcare center goes above and beyond. Being an industry professional we work with a lot of different skilled nursing facilities and this team shows amazing empathy and compassion. Tatianna and Normalyn are amazing resources in Social Services and Case Management. The front line team does a great job being receptive to feedback.

I am so grateful for the professional and loving nursing care I received at PowayHealth Care Center across from Palomar Hospital in Poway, CA. Everyone I met throughout my several week recovery period following full hip replacement surgery by Dr. Brad Cohen there was more than friendly and very well trained. My case manager, Normalyn, and I became good friends as she regularly checked in with me thruout my stay. Every one of the CNA’s (Certified Nurse Assistants) and MN’s (Medicine Nurses) who were assigned to me saw to it that my every need was cheerfully taken care of. I especially appreciated being greeted each morning with delicious breakfasts and lunches and a big smile brought to me by Frieda, my CNA, or whomever else was there to serve me. What I didn’t expect to find in a Skilled Nursing center was such a full calendar of daily activities for all the patients who wanted to attend them. There was a gym for participation in rehab activities staffed with well trained and friendly Physical and Occupational Therapists. Bottom line, I am grateful to, and highly recommend the Poway Health Care Center for anyone who can choose this place for their recovery. Carol Dysart

worlds most disgusting facility! If you hate your loved ones this is where you take them. I’d recommend the health department check on the kitchen. I found mold in the dishwasher, and in the fridge

Our experience was outstanding. My husband received excellent treatment. The nurses are attentive to details and very knowledgeable. The Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy therapists are amazing. The support staff in the various departments are most helpful in navigating everything from basic needs, to finances to transportation to doctor appointments. Years ago both my parents were residents at Poway Health Care Center and received excellent treatment then as well. We highly recommend this facility.

Most of the staff members are friendly. My father in law stayed only for 5 days but they quickly set up a care plan meeting, ordered a psychiatric and neurology consult. But the actual day to day care was suboptimal. Every time we visited (my husband and I visited separately daily), my father in law was sitting in a full diaper, a leaking diaper/wet sheet and/or blanket. It was so sad. Since he was a fall risk, they added 1:1 observation, but that extra caregiver was apparently there just to keep him from falling because they would just let him sit in saturated diapers until we asked them to change him. One time my husband visited and found his father naked in a dirty diaper, with a caregiver sitting right next to him. How is that acceptable? They also lost his blanket and quilt(both or them had his name on them) in that short period of time. My husband got a call from the facility saying they “found him on the floor” and that he had reported he’d taken a fall. I don’t know how that’s possible when he was supposed to be on 1:1 observation AND he isn’t able to verbalize at that level any more. He was admitted to the hospital and will now be going to a different facility. I get that these caregivers are working at a barely above minimum wage, but it just wasn’t a pleasant experience. We chose this place based on the convenient location but I regret making that choice.

This is the worst “skilled nursing facility” I’ve ever visited n the last 30 years. The brick & mortor looks nothing like the photo presented. You can’t even enter the facility through the front door displayed – you have to go through the “Employees Only” door and pass a dose of second hand smoke. There is only one RN on staff at any given time and the rest of the “skilled staff” are either an LVNs or CNAs. The LVNs shove medicine down their patients throat without checking with the doctors even when the patient refuses the medication. Yet, the patients aren’t given regular bed baths and even when they do receive one they do not wash the patients’ hair because they “don’t have the proper shampoo.” They have someone mop the floors but it appears they don’t have the proper floor cleaner either because the floor is still filthy. The wallpaper is falling off the walls, the visitor toilets don’t flush, the patients’ toilets have permanent rings around them, there is no manditory visitor log so patients aren’t kept safe, and it’s impossible to get someone to answer or return a phone call. Not until I walked into the Case Manager’s office to request my father’s transfer did anyone ask me what was wrong. My dad was supposed to stay at a rehab while he waited for his surgery 7-days later to remove part of his infected meditarsles. The “compationate” skilled nurses forced him to take a blood thinner claiming his surgery wasn’t scheduled for another 14 days without checking with me or his pediatrist. This would have jeapordized his ability to clot during and after the his surgery if my dad was correct about the date – and he was correct. On the day of surgery, the facility served him breakfast even though it would cause his surgery to be postponed had he not refused the food. My dad couldn’t put weight on his right foot but his left foot has zero working toes. He’s a diabetic and has undergone several partial amputations – yet, the “compasionate” therapists forced him to stand on his partially amputated left foot. My dad had to bluntly say, “I don’t think you can catch me if I fall, so no.” My dad asked for his manual catheder to be emptied but was forced to pee in his briefs because the “compassionate” nurses didn’t return in time. On the day of his surgery, the caregivers didn’t even bother to bathe him so he smelled like feces and urine in pre-opp. His room was so filthy that I brought in my own pine-sol, scrubber, vaccum, and rag to clean his room. The water was filthybrown and I only cleaned a 4 foot radius on his side of the room. I don’t who would rate this place anything more than a 1-star review but I wouldn’t leave my dog here – let alone a human. I will be contacting the state agency that is supposed to audit skilled nursing facilities immediately but you should stay away from this place. It feels like you are in third-world facility.

Please do not send your loved one here. My loved one’s leg got infected. NO ONE READ HIS CHART, HE WAS FRESH OUT OF SURGERY and he got an infection!! If I was not there to check on him, they would have never noticed anything wrong! Every day the new RN would call a family member to ask why he was there, why does nobody read the chart? When I went to visit in person, I waited OVER AND HOUR and a half to get his diaper changed. The main nurse kept saying the CNA would do it, but she never came. It wasn’t until I threated to report them that they took action. Random patients would wheel themselves into the room, almost running over my loves feet. This location needs a better nurse to patient ratio OR it needs better qualified individuals.

As soon as I arrived I heard a patient screaming for help and no one went to help him. Also, I saw roaches. And my loved one’s oxygen tank shut down!!!! And so many other awful things I don’t even want to remember anymore.

This center is the worse. My husband was left in his nasty clothes for 4 days without being changed and unable to get out of bed. Then family called the nurse station unable to speak with him and they said they were busy and couldn’t check on him. We left messages for the director to call us never received a call back. We finally had a family member who could travel to see him. When they did we discovered his clothes had fecal on them his bedding was all over the floor and the nurse was no where to be found. He was also incoherent so he would never be able to call for help. They went to go find the nurse and she said she was busy giving meds. It wasn’t until the family member said she was dialing 911 then everyone jumped thru hoops to go check him out. She did end up call 911 herself and they transported him to the hospital to be admitted. The Nurse Director has never called us back! They also changed his clothes prior to being transported. So is this how you want your family member to be treated. How long had it been since they checked on him. His nurse couldn’t even tell the EMT how long it had been when he couldn’t really respond or his last medications were. This is NOT the place to send someone who is sick!!!!

My dad spent about 2 months here and everyone was so kind and helpful, especially Michael. He was in communication with me the whole time and he even helped to find my dad a permanent home after rehab. Thank you to everyone at Poway Healthcare!

Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy is great here. I’ve worked with Katie, Ivan, Jawad, Jasmine, Anthony, and Doren. The transformation with my strength has been incredible. All very fun and nice. CNAs Keke, Frida, and Monica are also awesome. Food is not so good.
